Instant PAN Card Through Aadhaar – Know How to Apply

PAN is one of the most critical documents for Indian taxpayers. But do you want to obtain a PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card? Now with the launch of a new facility- an instant pan card through Aadhaar, you need not worry about the complicated and time-consuming PAN card obtaining procedure. 

The ex-Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced this new facility in 2020, allowing Indian residents to generate PAN faster over the internet. This article will let you know the allotment, requirements, and procedure to apply for an instant PAN card through Aadhaar. 

Allotment of Instant PAN Through Aadhaar 

The newly introduced provision facilitates the allotment of instant pan cards through Aadhaar to Indian residents through their Aadhaar card. Now there is no need for citizens to submit a detailed application form to get a PAN card. The instant PAN cards are issued in PDF format without a fee. 

You can instantly pan card apply on the income tax e-filing portal for free. Also, you can use NSDL and UTITSL websites to apply for e-PAN, but these websites demand a fee for the same. Applying for PAN on these websites through Aadhaar will automatically link your Aadhaar number with your PAN

The PDF you receive will comprise a QR Code that will include all your demographic details, like the applicant’s name, date of birth, and the applicant’s photographs. Use a 15-digit acknowledgment number for downloading the e-PAN from respective websites. You will receive a soft copy of your PAN card at your registered email address.

Requirements of Getting an Instant PAN Card by Aadhaar

Below listed are the conditions that are to be met to apply for pan card online with an Aadhaar card:

  • The Indian applicant must never have a PAN card. A person having more than one valid PAN card can be penalized as per Section 272B(1) of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961.
  • The applicant must have a valid Aadhaar number linked to their registered phone number.
  • The valid Aadhaar card must have the applicant’s complete date of birth.
  • When applying for a PAN card, an applicant must be more than 18 years (not minor).
  • Now that instant PAN through Aadhaar is an online, paperless procedure, there is no need for an applicant to submit or upload any documents.

Procedure for Application of an Instant PAN Through Aadhar

The following mentioned are a few steps that you need to follow to apply for an instant pan through Aadhaar:

Step 1: Log in to the official e-filling home page of the Income Tax department, i.e., www.incometax.gov.in

Step 2: Click on the ‘Instant e-PAN through Aadhaar’ icon from the ‘Quick Links’ section of the home page, and you will be redirected to the instant PAN allotment webpage.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Get New PAN’ icon to access the instant PAN request webpage.

Step 4: Next, fill in your Aadhaar details. Click on the ‘I confirm that’ box to confirm the undertaking, and next, select the ‘Continue’ icon. 

Step 5: After agreeing to verify the Aadhaar details through UIDAI, enter OTP that you have received on the registered phone number. After entering the OTP, click the ‘Validate Aadhaar OTP’ and select the ‘Continue’ option. 

Step 6: Next, you will be redirected to the OTP validation page, where you need to accept the terms and conditions by ticking the checkbox and clicking the ‘Continue’ option.

Step 7: Enter OTP, tick the checkbox, and click the ‘Continue’ icon.

Step 8: If your email is not validated, you must click the ‘validate email ID.’ Select the check box followed by clicking the ‘Continue’ icon.

After following this pan card through the Aadhaar application process, you will receive a 15-digit acknowledgment id number. After entering your Aadhaar number, you can see your PAN allotment details.
